Fires

By

I have always had a fear of fires. I got a call about midday that my childhood home was on fire. My 24 year old daughter lived in that home. She was hysterical because her cats were inside.

The school across the street from us, notified Kennedy the house was on fire. 2nd graders on the playground saw and reported it. The SRO came and banged on the door and windows until Kennedy came out. She walked out of her room to nothing but smoke. The house was on fire.

I made a post on FB and my sister did as well. So many people said they spent many nights in that house with us. It’s true. We did have a great little house. It’s a house filled with so many happy times. My sister and I had such a great childhood. We had a great family, and so many friends. Many of those friends, although we haven’t talked in years, have commented about the good times. We will always cherish those memories.

A house is a house. A structure. That’s not what makes a happy home. What makes a happy home, is the people you share your time with while living there. Not sure what the next step is. Very stressful day for all. Maybe tomorrow I’ll know a little more.

I’m just happy to have my daughter safe and sound here in my house with me tonight. It could have been so much worse.
