Fires…the next chapter

By

As if the 1st fire wasn’t bad enough, we received a call in middle of the night 30 hours later, it was on fire again. This time it took everything. There was nothing left.

This has been a harsh reminder that things aren’t important, people are. Memories are just that…memories. The most important thing is that the house that we called home and had been a safe haven for all of our family for 44 years was a structure. The attachment shouldn’t be to the place… it should be to the people we shared our lives with while we were living there.

Life will go on. We will all rebuild in our own ways. It is a grieving process. My daughter lost everything she ever owned. Her boyfriend lost lots of items also. My mom and I both had things stored in the basement and attic.

The missing cat was finally found today. He had been hiding in the woods. They had to pull him out by the tail to get him out. He was traumatized. He’s resting and has had food and water. He’ll be going for a check up tomorrow. He’s not white. He’s dirty, but he is alive.

Home…where we hung our heart since 1977. Remembering the happy times and thankful for the lives, both human and animals, that were spared.
